I am so sick of this ‘Ron Paul’ bullshit
So, the best argument that you can make for him is that he has…nothing to show for himself? Let me clue you in – in the Real World, where the rest of us have to live, spending 20 years doing nothing but criticizing other people while they do things you “don’t believe in” has a consequence. And unless you work for the DMV that consequence is “fired”.
It’s not enough to sit on your moral high-horse, never taking any kind of positive action to affect change or learning how to garner support for your ideas. “Uselessness” is not a positive character trait, no matter how many sweet little Chinese tales you trot out. Continue reading »

Woman raped after leaving party
A 22-year-old woman was raped after she left a party in Renfrewshire.Police said the woman was subjected to a serious indecent assault between 0430 GMT and 0500 GMT on Sunday in Whitehills, Erskine.
Detectives said she left a local party when a man walked up to her and then raped her.
Det Sgt Allan Muir said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything of significance in relation to this attack.”
Suggestion:
Detectives said the victim left a local party and was subsequently approached by a man who raped her.
Question:
What would be a “non-serious” indecent assault?

A north St. Louis County teen was clinging to life Tuesday night after being shot in the 2000 block of East Obear Avenue on Monday, police said.
Cortez Blanks, 17, of the 10000 block of Imperial Drive, suffered from wounds in the left and right side of his neck and was in serious and unstable condition at a hospital, police said.
There have been no arrests in the case, which remains under investigation, police said.
Anti-Choice Agenda Check!
OK, it’s amazing how warm and fuzzy this dead couple with the dead “unborn baby” are made to seem in this article – now that a drunk driver took them out. Had they been alive any article about them might have focused on how this 30-year-old statutory rapist guy impregnated his 18-year-old, high-school dropout girlfriend and didn’t marry her. But now that they’re all dead, it’s just warm fuzzy baby clothes stories and “Oh The Humanity!” of her “unborn baby” aka 2nd trimester fetus. Someone’s anti-choice agenda is showing…

Bolding mine:

ST. LOUIS: Cars’ rolling shootout injures teen bystander
11/13/2007
St. Louis police were searching for two vehicles involved in a rolling shootout that injured a bystander Sunday night.
A dark van and dark green Chrysler Sebring drove down Maffitt Avenue near Newstead Avenue about 10 p.m., with occupants firing 12 to 14 shots at each other, police said.
A boy, 17, who lives in the neighborhood was hit in the leg by a stray bullet, police said.
Also, crap headline of the day “Politicians increase conduct state business on private e-mail accounts” Yeah, I know you meant “increasingly” – but should I have to interpret the headlines? Really?

Report: Abstinence not curbing teen sex – Yahoo! News
WASHINGTON – Programs that focus exclusively on abstinence have not been shown to affect teenager sexual behavior, although they are eligible for tens of millions of dollars in federal grants, according to a study released by a nonpartisan group that seeks to reduce teen pregnancies.
“At present there does not exist any strong evidence that any abstinence program delays the initiation of sex, hastens the return to abstinence or reduces the number of sexual partners” among teenagers, the study concluded.
Although I have to make a comment for clarity’s sake – if actual abstinence was happening it would indeed be curbing teen sex. Abstinence curbs any sex, really. Severely. So obviously this crap headline should read “Abstinence-only education not curbing teen sex” However that doesn’t mean it’s not also cross-posted with the “ya think?” tag.

Investigators search for clues in S. Illinois woman’s death
10/22/2007
MARION COUNTY, ILL. — Detectives on Sunday were investigating the death of a woman whose body was found near a rural road outside of Centralia, Ill., police said.
Rita M. Cavaletto, 38, of Walnut Hill, Ill., was found dead Saturday evening off Copple Road outside of Centralia, Ill., authorities said. Her body was found about 5 p.m., but was last scene jogging about 9:30 a.m.
Investigators were calling her death a homicide and were asking anyone with information to call Illinois State Police at 217-347-2711.
Seriously, if I saw a body “scene jogging” at 9:30 a.m. I would be all “Zombie Attack!” and freak out – can’t wait to hear the rest of this story.

Further proof that sitting on a porch in St. Louis just doesn’t pay.
All hell broke loose on a back porch in St. Louis Tuesday night, with three wounded men running for their lives.
Police say it all began about 9:20 p.m., when the three were seated on the porch, in the 3000 block of North Euclid Avenue, in the city’s Kingsway East neighborhood.
Suddenly, two young men popped out of the south gangway and opened fire.
Although the shots hit home, the three victims managed to flee.
One, 43 years old, ran into the house and collapsed in the kitchen with two wounds in his abdomen and two more in his upper left leg.
The second, 33, ran through the house and onto the front porch, despite a wound to his left ankle.
The third, 35, ran through the back yard and into a neighboring house. He had a gunshot wound in his right calf and also suffered a broken left ankle.
All three were taken to hospitals and were reported in stable condition,.
So far, nobody has been arrestd. (sic)
I particularly love the reporters use of “All hell broke loose” at the beginning of the story, as well as the men “popping out” of the “gang”way (ha!) and the shots “hitting home.” I think I would like a little more melo with my drama, thanks.
And then this guy ”The second, 33, ran through the house and onto the front porch…” Oh my freaking God does he have A) no sense or B) total brass balls? Shot on the back porch, ostensibly the less dangerous porch attached to any St. Louis home, and he runs to the front porch? Wow. Now that takes some cojones my friends. That or a lack of brain. One of those.
In other news, looks like St. Louis might be set to become only the 2nd most dangerous city in America. Whoo! Let the party start now! Just, you know, not on the porch.

But I think this is a crap headline – it makes me feel like my tax money going to NASA isn’t being well spent:
Repairs weighed as NASA studies gash
I did have an Urban Decay lipgunk once called “Gash” which led to a funny conversation with a sales clerk who obviously didn’t know the other usage of the word. She said something to the effect of what a funny, aggressive name that was, like “Look out, or I will stab you with my gash!” And of course for weeks afterwards my friends and I would try to contort into various body positions to make such a thing possible. It only worked if the person getting stabbed was compliant, is what we finally determined.
