This is an article about a girl who took her own life after a group of adults and teens she knew created a fake MySpace profile of a boy who was “interested” in her, in order to find out what she thought about people in the neighborhood.

The girl had a history of depression and took medication to manage it. She hung herself in her closet after receiving messages from this “boy” that the world would be “better off without [her.]” There are no charges pending against the adults involved.

A Real Person, A Real Death

His name was Josh Evans. He was 16 years old. And he was hot.
“Mom! Mom! Mom! Look at him!” Tina Meier recalls her daughter saying.

Josh had contacted Megan Meier through her MySpace page and wanted to be added as a friend.Yes, he’s cute, Tina Meier told her daughter. “Do you know who he is?”

“No, but look at him! He’s hot! Please, please, can I add him?”

Mom said yes. And for six weeks Megan and Josh – under Tina’s watchful eye – became acquainted in the virtual world of MySpace.

I think social services needs to look into that family of psychos. I’m feeling like an “adult” who terrorizes and humiliates a 13 year old kid to the point of suicide is probably not the best person to be raising children.

Good. I’m glad they’ve gotten an overwhelming response, and I seriously hope that someone who has enough balls to tell the neighborhood this woman’s name, does just that. *I* don’t need to know her name, but I’d be sure as hell pissed if I lived in the neighborhood and didn’t know who it was.

I left a comment on the original article very much like what I wrote here. This woman should not be raising children.
