Well, I think I might have missed the point

August 14th, 2007

So, the whole online dating thing.  I guess I never considered that someone would actually expect me to go on a date with them. As in, physically leaving the house, going to a place where the other person is, staying in that space for a time and trying to decide if this person is someone I want to have groping on my bits.

A few guys have wanted me to meet up with them, but they were easy to blow off. Either not attractive to me or very bad spellers, so no problems there. But now this guy messaged me to go out next weekend, and I don’t have any reasonable excuse to say no. And I get that the whole point of the dating thing is the going on dates thing. Or, at least that’s a large part of it. But, I don’t want to go on a date with some random person I met online. Or anyone else I don’t know. I mean, what a waste of my Friday evening, making small talk with someone who’s most likely going to suck anyway.

Sarah says that I am just going to make up something to dislike about everyone, and she’s most likely right. I AM going to try to do that. So far it’s been pretty damn easy, and way funner to go off on the idiots than anything else. But… a date? Shit.

Shit Shit Shit.

Anyone know how to date without dating? There should be shortcuts for dating for introverts. Well, actually I guess that’s what online dating is. There should be a shorter shortcut for us then.

Yes, I realize that I am possibly one of the more ridiculous people in the world right this moment. No, I don’t have the grace to be ashamed of it. And this is even one where I can bring Todd and another couple friend of ours. Imagine if someone wanted me to go somewhere with just them. That neurotic rant will come at a later time I guess.

You’re braver than I am for even contemplating it, hon. *hugs* You just forgot to figure in the “Susie Is Cute” factor. Of course guys are going to want to meet you. Cute.

I tend to think it’s more because they want to chop me up and scatter my body parts across a woodland area, but either of those will work I guess.

So they want to keep your cute bits around where they can find them easily?
