Life in a malevolent electromagnetic field
That’s all I can figure out, why all my stuff is constantly fritzing. Computer seems to be dead dead dead. I spent probably 15+ hours loading, reloading, wiping, attempting to format, loading, copying. erasing… all to no avail. I am coming to the conclusion that the hard drive just failed, but rather than fail cleanly it decided to fail in a way to fuck with me. That’s OK! I am un-deterred! Although I can say that laptop keyboards haven’t grown on me any, so apologies in advance for any un-caught typos. Of course, dislike for laptops aside, waking up yesterday morning to find that my wireless connection had gone down was not so fun. I went to bed and it was working, I woke up and it was down. Such is life in the malevolent electromagnetic field. So the good news is that the wireless has healed itself, as has the icemaker somewhat. Meaning that it spits out random ice enough to suit my cola-addict needs, while occasionally descending into tooth-rattling noise of the street-drilling variety. The other good news is that I am taking my PC into the IT lab at school today where they can help me fix, or at least diagnose, its issues. The bad news related to that of course is that my 5-day mni-vacation is now over. I didn’t really get a lot accomplished on a level that anyone else would recognise, but I did spend quite a lot of time laying on the floor in the sunshine and playing with puppies. And that’s something of which the value can’t really be measured. Some updates to the garden, but not a lot since it’s been so hot. Apparently I’ve got mad-crazy Japanese Beetles here because I went outside the other day and got dive-bombed by them. I put out a trap and had about 10-15 in it the next day. Gross! But there have been more birds hanging out lately and I think it’s because they are eating up these tasty treats. Fine by me! I also finally had my storm door installed! I haven’t used the roll-down screen portion yet, but the door is pretty pimp, and I love it. I especially love the reduction in mosquitos that it brings with it.
Let’s see. My parents are still getting divorced (again) and my Mom’s dog got fleas (she says from my Dad) so I haven’t taken the pups out there. My Mom seems to be doing very well, blood tests good and all that. Life in the ‘hood is still exciting, no murders lately except a guy beating his 3-year old to death. :| I am throuroughly sick of fireworks after a week of them going off constantly. I have to wonder what the deal is after awhile. I mean, the pretty ones at least have some redeeming quality. but just sitting around and lighting, throwing and listening to little bombs all day… how bored would you have to be to make that fun?
I started painting in the bedroom. It goes slow but well. No major spills as yet, and I am trying to be more careful with the drop cloths, of course. I am doing the edging with a brush, which seems to be working out better than either doing it with a pad or roller did, and I am loving the color.
OK that’s plenty of boring prattle for me. I have to go and call the dentist, the malevolent magnetic field has struck again, this time sucking out one of my fillings. Tot ziens! - SBG
Update: The dentist can see me today at 11:20, which is awesome, and my PC is up in IT. They feel like it probably is dead hard drive, so I will bite the bullet and get a new one. I may get two so I can have one redundant for backups and use my external for 3D-only. Which would actually be pretty sweet. Especially if I was a MILLIONAIRE! Which I am not. But whatever.

Just think; if you don’t get your PC running soon, maybe those guys with the little bombs will let you in on the fun.
