I wish there was an adequate term to describe how worthless the world is. Alas, there is not.

I’ll have to disagree here SBG. The world isn’t worthless – it is a place full of beauty and wonder. It’s 99.9% of the humans that are worthless.

This is why I am amused when some idiot is on the news insisting that we are going to “destroy the planet”. No we aren’t, we are just going to destroy or seriously diminish the human race…which I can’t say I really care about much because overall that would be better for the planet.

So, here is a word to describe the current human civilisation: Fuckwitopia.

The world may be filled with beauty and wonder, but it’s all pointless, cyclical beauty and wonder. So what if it’s beautiful and wondrous? So what if we observe it? Then we stop observing it, or it becomes less beautiful, or both. I am just feeling like everything is pretty pointless, and mostly a noisy distraction while we wait here to die.

I do like the word “Fuckwitopia” though. Consider it added to my lexicon.

I’m afraid I have to disagree with both of you.

The world is a fucking awesome beautiful place. If that’s not “good enough,” I don’t know how to make it better.

Most people are pretty cool too, really. Even though most of them make decisions that are different than the ones we’d make, or interested in things we have no interest in.

Some people are quite horrible, but they are rather rare, really.

All people are flawed.

But some people we like, and are interested in the same kinds of things we are interested in. We just have to find them. And with the Internets, it’s easier to do this than ever before in history.

But I can’t Pollyannify anyone into feeling better. I don’t know how to build a bridge across that huge of a chasm.

SBG, I hope you work through this and start feeling better.

I’m casting my vote with Dim. Fuckwitopia. The world itself is just fine.

Everything *is* pointless, but I don’t see that as a particularly a bad thing. I can’t think of any point I’d like “everything” to have, anyway.

Also, I think you need a mid-life crisis-mobile. Something sporty and convertible, possibly in purple. (I’m calling mid-life everything between 30 and 70, for the mobile-getting purpose.)
