Wednesday Playlist – Songs to Stay Home To

December 11th, 2009

The truly heinous weather of the last few days has got me in serious nesting mode. I know I can’t stay home all winter, but this week has not seen me inspired to leave the house at all. It just seems very cosy to stay here at home with chihuahuas and blankets and bad TV and books and peanut butter sandwiches. But if you’re going to stay home, you have to set the mood – thus we have a need for a Songs to Stay Home To* playlist. I know I say this almost every time, but I think this one might be my favorite so far.

I’ve added the songs that I had in my library – some of the others aren’t things I own, so sorry about that if yours didn’t make the list. As always, I’ve banned all Yacht Rock.

Thanks for playing along, hope you enjoy!

Songs to Stay Home To

kopper – @superbadgirl The Spaceshits “Winter Dance Party” LP

gatewaygroupie – @superbadgirl If I was at home, I’d be listening to Sufjan Stevens and feeling bad about not believing in god. #wednesdayplaylist

narcise – @superbadgirl I’m going with Count Basie on that one, for sure.

stevodarkly – @superbadgirl Wed. playlist: I’m gonna have to go with Loreena McKennitt. 2nd place: The Charlie Brown Christmas CD, but not over and over.

hipntrendy – @superbadgirl Russ loves Ministry’s ‘Psalm 69′ , me – I listen to the Swimf@n soundtrack over and over. do those work? #wednesdayplaylist

The_Cyr – @superbadgirl Theivery Corporation makes for a restful night home.

p_tea – @superbadgirl I’m still a sucker for Pink Floyd when it’s dark and the weather is frigid. #wednesdayplaylist

hipntrendy – @superbadgirl okay, I found an album (all one artist) that I listen and love all the songs. New Order – Best Of New Order

narcise – Since it’s my b-day, i’ll choose more #wednesdayplaylist entries: Mazzy Star, Brasil 66, Martin Denny, Portishead, Cat Stevens, yachtrawk.

cassiland – @superbadgirl Thelonious Monk.. great music for house cleaning, cooking, or curling up and crafting and reading all day. #wednesdayplaylist

H_Wallbanger – @superbadgirl For an artist I like to listen to in winter, I’ll say Sigur Ros. Their first two albums are perfect for watching the snow.

trmink – @superbadgirl With out a doubt, Jolie Holland. Add a WoodWick candle, premium Scotch, and a thick book.

jamesblackwood - Nina Simone, Leonard Cohen, or Neko Case #wednesdayplaylist

gatewaygroupie - @superbadgirl If request lines are still open, Laine WWT twitter puts in a vote for Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here. #wednesdayplaylist

*please do not confuse this with a Songs to Slit Your Wrists To playlist, or Songs to Get Sexed Up To playlist. I know they’re similar, but there are subtle differences.
