Random Update on Crap

April 28th, 2009

First – best news is that my Dad is out of ICU, off of respirator, and apparently well enough to refuse to “want to bother” the nurses for pain meds when he’s in pain. Nor did he want to bother them for help when he was nauseated from the first post-op food—as if they want him barfing with a big gash up in his chest.

But if he’s well enough to worry about inconveniencing other people, then he’s doing pretty well I’d say.

Exhausting day today, proving to me that I am still not up to 8hr days on my wonky feet. However, it’s very… something affirming, getting out and doing a shoot like this one. I forget how many amazing things are happening in my workplace every day. How fantastic most of my colleagues are, how far out of their way they will go to help me when I am working on something like this. It’s truly inspirational, and some days I just get reminded to be glad that I have a hand in making it happen.

I am behind in everything now though. Work, social obligations, family obligations, laundry, chores – and don’t even talk to me about the state of my front and back yards, which need major intervention. So lots to do. But first, we sleep.

Side note: I am starting to think SVU has jumped the shark. Their plots and preachy social lessons are really over the top. Tonight’s Hillary Duff episode being a case in point. Not even Alex can resurrect them.

Just been doing a quick catch up of your recent blogs. I can’t believe how much I’ve missed so I’ll be back for a proper slow read when I get back from work.

For now though, just wanted to pop in and say:

    *HUG*

Glad to hear your dad is on the mend – I know just how worrying these things can be no matter how “routine” they may be to the doctors.

Yay, Susie’s Dad! Have you gotten to go see him yet, then?

Sorry about your feet, but I’m glad to hear you enjoyed your work day. That doesn’t seem to happen for you too often.

Can’t help you with SVU. I’ve never seen it. Sorry.

Wanted to say that on the upside, my Dad had a quadruple bypass done a few years ago. Luckily after that he also gave up smoking for about the 20th time but this time stuck to it and he’s been much healthier since then.

I’m sure that once your dad recovers from the operation itself then he’ll be able to be a lot more active and feel a lot better.

Dr. Geep at Renderosity had a septuple a few years back, and he’s still going, too. I didn’t even know there was such a thing until somebody posted there about it.
