Daily Miscellany 2008-10-31

October 31st, 2008
  • http://twurl.nl/qo28nx This Samantha Bee Women’s “Health” piece was the best and harshest topical comedy I’ve seen in a while. #
  • OK, I think Jake is barfing blood. We’re going to the vet. #
  • He’s hemmoraghing. Vet says very serious. Maybe rat poison. #
  • Home from vet and emergency hospital. Poison or immuno disease. Waiting 4 bloodwork. Poison=transfusion. Disease=meds w/50% cure rate. #
  • Thx all for positive thoughts. Am wreck, am researching this disease. #
  • Vet called, Jake has immune mediated thrombocytopenia. Body attacks own platelets. Starting on prednisone+antibiotics. 50-75% chance he’s OK #
  • Vet #2 just called, said Vet #1 told her Jake needed to be in hospital w/blood transfusion. Not clotting “at all.” #2 calling #1 to confirm. #
  • Vet # 1 says 10% chance of surviving unless I let Vet #2 do transfusion. Vet #2 told me he’s fine w/just meds. I hate the whole world. #
  • Jake is at hospital overnight being transfused. Vet says 50/50 chance, maybe 75% chance b/c he’s otherwise healthy. He’s bruised everywhere. #
  • He had bruises on his tail & on his eyelids even. I am sick about leaving him there. Taking tranquilizers, going to lie down. #
  • Can’t sleep, haven’t eaten all day. Making soup and washing Jake’s bed so it will be clean and fresh when he gets home. #
