DAZ Platinum Club – The Celebration That Wasn’t

October 2nd, 2008

So basically the platinum club celebration this year is… the ability to buy more stuff? They’re not giving members anything, we get no special vouchers, no free products, no package as in former years. The big “gift” is Hey, buy more things and you will get some money back in a few months that you can use to buy more stuff!

Yeah. Ummm. Thanks?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I have seen nothing even approaching the previous years’ anniversary gifts.

I’ve just recieved the Daz email about this (didn’t have it when I read the post last night) and I can now see what you mean. You’ve got to admit it’s a clever marketing gimmick, but it would have been nice to get something free or extra. Even if they’d made M4 available to PC members a few days early it would have been a nice gesture.

My problems with the way they’ve done this are that right now I’m trying not to spend any money, and also there’s not much in the store I really want.

Just realised something from re-reading the email – Hiro 4 is going to be a morph for M4 isn’t it? I hate that they did that with A4 – take a unique and much loved figure and turn it into a morph of another figure so it’s not that different any more.

Exactly. If they gave us a new base figure or something I *might* spend extra to get addons. But just another sale on second-rate PC items? *snore*

And yeah, if they can save time and labor and money and eff up something their customers like, they will really try their hardest.

I haven’t read any of the DAZ emails in forever, so I can’t comment on that (or pretty much anything else at DAZ). But I can say that pressing for a faster release of M4 is not such a good idea at this time. *cough*

But I do actually like A4, even though I may possibly be the only one who does.

I just realized something else. There’s not even a 50% off sale of DAZ Originals for PC members this month. That’s always been the bare-bones staple of the “celebration.” That’s lame, DAZ.

    L.A.M.E.

    No 50% off sale
    No extra vouchers
No free item (not even new things added to the “welcome” package.)

This is seriously the stupidest celebration ever. Now I am for sure canceling my PC membership.

  6. DAZ P|C Memebership Loses its Benefits at superBadGirl… on October 7, 2008 7:05 am

[...] the “benefits” of being a DAZ PC club member. They’ve pretty much eroded. The lame “anniversary sale” that turned out to not be a sale, for one thing. And then I was reading this description from their promo page. (where they no [...]

According to the last e-mail I got (which I actually did bother to read this time) PC members are now getting M4 “before everyone else.”

*does not offer opinion on the value of that perk*
