Once Again

September 28th, 2008

Once again I thought I might play around with 3D. I opened D|S – needed a new version. Downloaded, installed.

Checked plugins.

Needed to redo all of my settings, re-save all my preferences.

Wanted to use A4, needed a new version. Downloaded, installed.

Now it’s an hour later and I need to go to bed.

Repeat every 6-8 wks, as needed.

*sigh*

That’s one of the reasons that I gave up on DS a long time ago – it changes too often, and in my case one change stopped it working properly with my video card for a few versions.

I’ve not bothered to install SP3 for Poser 7 yet either since that also adds a few unwanted “features” but overall Poser seems more established and doesn’t undergo as many changes.

I suppose it’s a choice of new features, vs having a nice, stable platform to work on. Nothing nore annoying though than having a spare hour to play and you end up wasting it waiting for installs and downloads etc.

D|S was fine when I had hours per day that I was willing and able to devote to it. But now it’s been more than a year since I had that kind of time, and every time I open it I feel like I have to re-learn it. I think I have established my 3D chops and can say that I am not stupid at this kind of thing—but when basic functionality changes so frequently, keeping up is like a part-time job. I just can’t do it.
